Daring Capital

Brand Strategy, Comms Strategy, Content + Copy

Daring Capital is an investment sector disruptor.

So it’d better look and talk like one, too.

The Challenge

In the spring of 2023, I sat down for coffee with Jem Stein, a visionary social entrepreneur. Over that conversation, he shared an ambitious idea: transforming how underrepresented founders navigate the world of investment.

But to bring this bold vision to life, he needed more than just an idea—he needed a name, a brand, and a clear, compelling way to communicate his mission.

The Approach

First we started by nailing down his Vision, followed by his Mission and Values. Then came the name - we needed something different from the nature/adventure vibes of new investment and definitely different from the shiny, corporate blandness. Out of a fun, creative workshop came Daring Capital.

Once we knew who DC was, I brought in my favourite designer and letterer, Rebecca Duncan (she’s responsible for my branding too!) She created those bold, punchy visuals, the “growth” logo and using her Brand Guidelines, I put together a website, with the help of UX expert Ann-Marie Kinlock.

Daring launched, to great acclaim, and now I work with Jem an ongoing basis, supporting him on DC’s communication strategy and other founder-related responsibilities.

The Outcome

Jem said: “When I set this up, I didn't want a dry, financial services brand. I wanted to be bold, brash, and, you guessed it, daring. Gabby delivered that for me in spades!”

And he also said: “Gabby is more than just a creative consultant. As a social entrepreneur herself, she had an intuitive understanding of our mission and our motivation. This was perfectly reflected in the wonderful name, brand, and website she created for us. Gabby is a real pleasure to work with and I was really pleased with what we created”
